Yesterday is gone

Last years "Audience Award" winner taking the title of best student film of 2018 belongs to the film Yesterday Is Gone, written and directed by 2nd year FSA College student Bennie Tshengele.

The film is shot on location in the township community of Kayamandi in Stellenbosch, South Africa and features some wonderful performances. Most notably is that of newcomer Asakhe Gogoza who shines on screen and steals the scenes she's in throughout the film. A solid performance is also delivered by the lead actor, Mzwandile April, whose character has been worn by the years and exudes the bitterness and the crusty nature of a recluse.

The film is beautifully edited by Cwenga Mjali, who also pulls camera duty for this small crew. But the real credit for this film goes to Bennie for his solid directing skills, as he pulls performance from many who have never acted for the camera prior to Yesterday Is Gone.

It's a great film, and was deserving of the "Audience Award".
